Merry Christmas

Well its looking like I'll be ending my year short of my goals ... *insert sad little face* At the beginning of the year I said I was going to be better at posting and keeping up with my blog but somehow I indeed fell a little short. *pout*. As fall set in our household seemed to get crazy, and a tad stressful ta boot. Although back on track I missed several challenges and plenty of deadlines ..... and now its just about time for Christmas. Actually I am all ready there .... decorations are up, prezzies are wrapped, baking is done... Just waiting till I can open those presents under the tree {I'm pretty certain Steve bought me a crafty gift *he he*}

Anyways ..... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !!!

Here are a few of those "missed" challenges !!!

Sunday, October 24, 2010

I almost completely scrapped this card, and now that it is complete it is actually one of Steve's {my husband} favorites for this years Christmas season ... funny how those things happen *grin*. Anyways I'm feeling better, back to about 80%. Trying to get the guest room put back together, its almost there ...*big grin* and I am really excited. I am probably not going to manage to be able to participate this week in any of my favorite challenges due to being knocked on my butt and such a hectic week, but maybe I'll get to sneak in a hour or two tomorrow evening. Hope everyone had a great week-end !!

Another Christmas Card

Yesterday was my birthday and although I wanted a quiet day with my hubby, I wasn't planning on spending some time in the hospital ... *big frown*. I came down with a cold on Saturday but I am diabetic and have a very hard time fighting infection, so by Monday I had an ear infection. {Holy Cow - they hurt}Spent the entire day in bed, and most of today as well. Not sure if I'll get on track to participate in any of my favorite challenges but thought I would share another on of my Christmas cards. I actually made this on for a Penny Black Challenge (use two images) but never got a picture taken or posted on time. Oh well, at least I have one more Christmas card complete.

My Birthday Week-end and ....

It's official... I am SICK!!! So much for any Birthday plans I may have had. Actually we have been busy painting and putting up moulding in our Guest Room {which are my week-end/birthday plans}. I told my hubby I was tired of it being a storage room with a bed ....*grin* but it has been alot of work. Anyways I reaaly going to enjoy it once it is done .... *sigh*

So on to my crafting ... *giggle*. I have been spending alot of my crafting time trying to get Christmas Cards complete. In the past I would pick one image and mass produce enough cards to send out, but this year after participating in a few challenges I decided everyone needed their own special card ... {what wat I thinking ...*shaking my head*}Anyways just thought I would share another one with you - I was just so tickled at how it all turned out. I actually mad three cards using this cute Penny Black image I got last year from Crafty Capers. Hope everyone is enjoying their week-end :o)

High Hopes Challenge #92

The Challenge this week over at High Hopes this week is Red and Green {but it doesn't have to be a Christmas Card}. Since I really need to get my butt in high gear and get to workin on my Christmas cards, I decided this challenge would work perfectly for me ... yup another Christmas Card is complete but I still have tons more to do .... *giggle*. Guess I'd better keep myself going.

Hope everyone is having a great week-end. My hubby, my neighbour and myself have been hard at work doing reno's on the spare room. I was hoping we would have a beautiful guest room by monday but i think it won't be ready until later in the week. We keep adding more to the list ....*sigh*

WnW Challenge 35- Halloween

It's time for another challenge over at Wags and Whiskers.This week's challenge is hosted Jeanette and the challenge is Halloween. I don't think I have ever made a halloween card, but I really enjoy participating in the WnW Challenges so I gave it a shot. The girls over at WnW are really making me go outside my comfort zone lately ... *giggle* but it was soooooo worth it. Guess who won last weeks challenge .... *big cheezy grin*

Vintage/Shabby Chic

Well I really must say that I don't think "Vintage or Shabby Chic" is my style at all ....*lol* I spent hours mulling over this project and finally tossed it aside thinking, nope not this challenge .... *sigh* but when I got up this morning and took a second peek ...*big cheezy smile* everything came together {still really not my style}.Anyways head on over to Wags and Whiskers
You really need to check out the awesome cards the DT's made to inspire us *wink* and why not participate in this weeks challenge too!!

Breast Cancer Awareness

Stamp and Create has a monthly challenge and this month is "Pink - for Breast Cancer Awareness". Not only is this such a worthy cause but an awesome reason to participate in the challenge. I have lost a dear friend to Breast Cancer so any reason to spread the word is good to me .... Take a few minutes and go play along with the awesome girls over at Stamp and Create Challenge
I had a really hard time getting a good picture(I think because of all the light pinks) but here is my card for Stamp and Create challenge #6
Think Pink !!

September Birthdays

 I have a couple of birthdays to celebrate in September... and both happen to be male. Much to my dismay, I still really dont have alot of masculine stamps. This is definately an issue since at least half the cards I make are for the "boys" ... *sigh* The good part is neither one would really say anything .... *lol* Anyways here are their cards, and I really must say that I am pleased with my results dispite the fact my darling husband (Steve) said that my Penny Black card was a little "girly". The top card went to my uncle Fred (although originally it was going to my brother, Jeff but is was too "lumpy" for the mail). So that means my little brother got my girly card .... *evil little laugh*. He's awesome though and always says my cards are nice !! He probably only cares about what's inside that card anyways ..... *lol*

Have a great week everyone, I'm off to do some crafty things *wink*

Celebrating "World Card Day" ... with a High Hopes Challenge

Everybody knows what the first Saturday of October means.....  it is World Card Day !! I knew that if I didnt make sure I made something I would have my butt kicked by all my crafty friends .... *lol* I purchased a stamp earlier this year by High Hopes called "Snow Yummy" with the poem "Snowman Soup". I had often heard the poem but to have it in rubber ..wow... I knew right away I needed these stamps and I also knew I had to make "Snowman Soup" for my Guiding friends here in Springhill. The big question was how was I going to present this .... *sigh*.Well lovely Lacey created a sketch for this weeks  High Hopes Challenge ... so I jumped completely out of my comfort zone, made something that was not a card ... and still tried to follow Lacey's sketch. I'm really pleased at how everything turned out.

Scrapbooking Frenzy

I am sure we have been faced with this .... *sigh*. The ""perfect pictures to work on the "perfect" layout and then NOTHING, your layout will not come together and its just *ho um* and sits on your desk for months as an unfinished project. I must add I really dislike unfinished projects of any kind and that surely includes my scrapbooking ... *te, he* Anyways I'm on a mission to finish up all those pages and get them into albums so that I can enjoy some new photos ....

So thought I would share a few layouts I've completed over the last couple of days {although the pictures are not great} I wanted everyone to see that "yes" I am crafting, It's just that I don't always get things uploaded {afterall" this blogger stuff is still fairly new to me}Hope everyone is having a great week-end, it's nice and sunny here in Nova Scotia {but not as hot as my BC friends and family-stay save} Is everyone counting the days till the kids go back to school? *lol* Although my hubby and I only have "furbabies" you can always tell on our street when school is out *lol*

Enjoy your week end
Hugs

Con's Birthday Card

I am so ashamed at how long its been since I posted anything {in my defence our life had been turned upside down by some aweful neighbors .... but we now have a peace bond against them and finally have our lives back} Anyways it was my father-in-laws birthday July 29th so I finally got a chance to ink this cute image from Dustin Pike. I ordered it months ago for the fisherman in my life ...lol.... I really found that I lack images for those "man cards" so I've been trying to add some whenever I order from Crafty Capers or Stamp & Create. I was hoping to get some work done outside today but its a little cold out there today so I think I may spend some time in my craft room :o)

Another Baby Born

A quick post to share one more "baby" card. It must be the year of the baby ... {LOL} Jennifer had a beautiful baby boy, Shane Douglas. The shower was today but I had to go to First Aid so I didnt get to go. We will have a private date later in the week. Which is actually better cause then I don't have to share baby with anyone ... {LOL} Yippee the smell of a new baby, I can't wait ..... Anyways hope everyone had a great week-end. Here's to a peaceful week coming.

It's A Girl

Just a quick post to share the card I made for one of my friends in BC. Shae and her husband had their first baby {a sweet little girl, Alora}.Its been years since I've seen Shae but I wanted to send some special wishes from Nova Scotia. My DH says that a homemade card is so much more special {Isn't he a very smart man .....lol} so this was another perfect reason to make another card. The image is from High Hopes designed by Dustin Pike {Sorry Vic} but I fell in love and thought this would make perfect "Baby" cards. {and guess what? I've already used it three times ....he,he,he} Anyways hope everyone is having a great week, We're having some awesome weather but I won't be fooled ... lol. Last year {my first Spring in Nova Scotia} I started my gardening way too early, I was so upset seeing snow fall after planting my roses ......

Congratulations On Your Furbaby Boy

My very good friends {Sandra and Mike} have a new addition to their family. A new little furbaby {Rosco} and he is so completely adorable. Rosco was recued from the SPCA in Campbell River, BC and is four months old. Let me tell you, this little guy won the lottery when he gained Sandra and Mike as parents. This little boy will be very spoiled. I decided that since everyone sends cards to people when they have a "Baby" that these new "parents" should receive a card as well {*wink*}.
I know that Auntie is gonna love receiving this card of congratulations because she's just like me and our puppies are our children. Welcome home Rosco...

love your Auntie Yvette
XOXO

My Husbands Birthday Card

It's Steve's Birthday on Tuesday, so I'm sharing his card with everyone today. He loves my homemade cards but has never looked at my blog so I know its safe to share with everyone. I find it really hard to make "Man Cards" .... but I am very pleasently pleased with how this turned out. {I used my new ribbon punch from Fiskars to attach my ribbon} That was very interesting {LOL} Anyways poor Steve will not be getting much more then this card on his birthday ... poor baby ... actually the Babies and I bought him a camcorder but he was allowed to have it early due to "other" events happening in our life right now. Hope everyone enjoyed their week-end and is ready for a productive week. {Its Spring break here, I'm hoping it will be a very quite week :o) }

A Birthday Card for Sue

It's my mother-in-laws Birthday March 22nd, I thought this weeks Penny Black Challenge {Spring Colors} would be perfect for her birthday card. I may have got a little carried away with all the frills, ribbon and bling but didnt it turn out so darn gone cute !!! Happy Birthday Sue.

Wags N Whiskers Challenge-Make your own Flower

I hope to mail this card off tomorrow to a friend who is having a really hard time right now. She's feeling like her whole world is tumbling down around her, but first I thought I would share my card and enter the Wags and Whiskers Challenge for this week {make your own flower}. I have a ton of prima flowers I LOVE to use but thought I would attempt so that I could participate in the challenge. I must admit I am really tempted to rip the flowers off and put on some Primas {LOL} but I wont. I do think when I have some more time I will look into some "how to make flowers" tutorials {he,he}

A Card for Delia

I really can't think of a better reason to make a card ...... Dustin Pike posted a special request to make a card and send it to a little girl , Delia who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and is currently having her second round of chemo. If you are interested in participating Dustin is offering three digi stamps FREE. To participate check out all the details HERE

Please consider taking part of this "challenge". You'll be helping to make a little ten year old very happy. And here is the card I made for Delia .....

Back for my second Challenge over at Scrap Fit. This weeks Challenge #13 was {Show Us UR Support} The moment I saw this challenge I knew it was destined to be a Valentines Card for my DH. {I'm sure a few of us thought the same *he, he*}
The original design was done by Pinky and her template is HERE. You have to go check it out and make yourself some lingerie *wink*. Thanks Pinky for sharing this with everyone. It was so much fun .... My DH got to see it early and he LOVES it {and my neighbor wants one too!!}

With Deepest Sympathy

Most definately my least favorite card to make, but I thought that since I had to make my guiding friend a sympathy card I would complete a challenge (well I actually I'm gonna use it for two) The challenge for Penny Black this week was pins and pearls. (this was an easy peasy challenge - I love my kaiser pearls *wink*) I'm also using this card for Cute Card Thursday. This weeks challenge was Dots and Spots. (My inspiration was actually my stamped Penny Black Image). Thanks for stopping by ....enjoy!

Scrapbooking ....

Just thought I would share a quick layout for all my BC friends ( and all my blogger friends too). I hate being "behind" in my scrapbooking *grin* I am attempting to "finish with my 2009 photos so I can get out the camera and take some more *wink*. Since moving to Nova Scotia I have a ton of renovation pictures to deal with and would really like to get ahead of that album. I was saying to a friend last week my goal is one card per week and I think a minimum of one layout per week as well. Anyways on to the LO. I wanted a simple layout because I felt these pictures would tell the story ....... My first NS winter {Enjoy} And despite what my DH says ... I like BC weather much better then all this darn snow.

Wags N Whiskers / Sketch & Stash Challenges

I had such a hard time getting a good photo but I'm going with this cuz last week I spent days on a card for two challenges and then never got it posted on my blog ..... LOL ...
On to this card and challenges... *wink* Wags N Whiskers Challenge this week was blue, white and brown. (I made myself a challenge to attempt making christmas cards all year so that at christmas I'm not so *rushed* so this is also part of my personal challenge)

I also used the layout for Sketch & Stash Challenge #28. I used my *new* Wags N Whiskers Stamp (bought several months ago but never inked) and my new Martha Stewrt border punch (Doilly Lace), everything else is from my stash (coordinations card stock, kaiser pearls, Cuttle bug Folder, nestabilities)
